Leslie Lang is a new personal historian. She lives in Hilo, Hawaii and her company is called Talk Story Press. In her community a "talk story" is one that is passed along orally - like on the front porch on a nice summer evening. Leslie is experiencing considerable response from her marketing. I wanted to give her the opportunity to share what it is like to start a personal history business in a community that is "introduction-oriented." She will also share with you her experience in placing an ad in her local newspaper and about her first public speaking engagement (which is a good story!) Finally, I find Leslie to be a person of boundless enthusiasm about personal history and I believe this is also fueling her marketing success. She talks in the interview about how fearless her love for this work makes her when she is out looking for clients.
